1. Confirm the property is still available
Open the official list for the parcel. Check the account, legal description, sale date, status and published bid instructions. Withdrawals and cancellations can happen after our last source check. Tarrant coverage currently covers Constable Precinct 3; Dallas covers struck-off resale records.
2. Check exactly what is being sold
An address is a starting point. Read the legal description and confirm the property boundaries, access, land use and the interest offered. A mineral interest or a group of accounts sold together requires separate investigation. Do not assume an opening bid applies independently to every account in a group.
3. Compare the right numbers
We distinguish adjudged values, appraisal-district values and published minimum bids. These figures serve different purposes. A gap between value and bid does not account for property condition, liens, possession, transaction costs or eventual resale proceeds.
4. Investigate the redemption estimate
Open “Why this label?” beside a property. The available appraisal rolls may support an estimate of homestead or agricultural status, but they do not establish the facts at the time the suit was filed. A “check” label means the evidence is insufficient; it does not imply a shorter redemption period.
Read the redemption methodology and statutory citations.
5. Resolve deferral and title questions
An exemption flag can indicate a possible deferral. Its absence may mean the district withholds the information. For a struck-off parcel, check whether the deed date is recorded or a proxy. Elapsed time alone does not settle title, possession or insurance questions.
6. Verify the process before committing money
Read the county’s current bidder requirements, payment instructions and resale terms. Obtain appropriate title, legal and property advice. This website does not accept bids, collect deposits or certify properties.
